SARS EP:

Slug and Lettuce

Proving this label has total diversity - this is basic lofi punk with an 80s skater kid style. Raw punk with a totally rock n' roll style, played solid and delivered with an edge that is catchy, youthful and kind of snotty. Totally reminds me of one of those old skate punk comps of California bands. In the resurrection of 80s hardcore and thrash, Career Suicide from I have no idea where, are one band leading the pack - so long as you're not looking for metal guitars, if so look elsewhere, this is straight up 3 chord punk rock.

PID

Terrific early 80s-influenced hardcore/punk from this Canadian band. The A-side of this EP is a dead ringer for “Jealous Again” era Black Flag, while the three cuts on the B-side pick up the pace a la the Circle Jerks. Track down this record along with a copy Career Suicide's LP on Ugly (Pop) for examples of the way hardcore should be played.--Mario

Uou!!!! It blows my head! It was recommended to me by Tony and uou! fuckin good old school hardcore!!! When i though there weren't at this time bands of this style i heard them and fuck yeah! They're killer! They are like Ill Repute so this is a must have for every hardcore fan!! The a-side it's a cool long song (2 minutes and a little more) and the b-side it's more fast hardcore like always, i liked the LP too but this is more mmmmmm varied, it's cool and as fast as the other, this is what i neeeeeed!!! Some cool hardcore! This zine is very garage punk oriented but my real music it's old hardcore and they do it so well!! Excellent! --Raúl Problematic

S/T EP:

Flex Your Head

Throwing this 7" by Toronto's Career Suicide on your turntable is almost like stepping into a time machine and turning the knob straight to 1981.

Fast, rough, raw and thrashy, Career Suicide careen their way through seven blistering tracks of haphazard, early 80's-inspired hardcore that brings to mind the chaos of the Germs coupled with the breakneck riffing of This Is Boston Not L.A.-era Jerry's Kids. In a word, sweet.

In the know Vancouver residents will also find "Jonzo's Leaking Radiation" as the highlight of the disc - here's a band that can rip it up and have fun at the same time. Now, when's that 12" coming out on Ugly Pop? --Eric Flexyourhead.

Dead Alive Distro

7 songs of fast, nasty, and ultra snotty hardcore punk from Toronto that brings to mind bands like Gang Green, Angry Samoans, and the Germs. Noisy and raw, this totally rips. Features every mothers' nightmare and every high school girls' dream, Chris Colohan on the skins.

S/T LP:

Dead ALive Distro

The brilliant LP from these handsome Canadian lads has finally hit these Yankee shores. The comparisions to greats such as the FU's, Gang Green, Angry Samoans, and the Germs seem to be non-stop and we're not going to disagree. Released on Toronto's esteemed Ugly Pop label, will we be handling a large part of the mailorder for this release while Simon at UP potificates the glory of tuna sandwiches, 60's girl groups, and how to obtain the perfect high.

Flex Your Head:

I've almost completely worn the grooves off of Career Suicide's self-titled 7" EP on Holland's Kangaroo Records. Then, out of pure procrastination, I never did track down or order their SARS 7" on Deranged Records. That one is now nearly impossible to find as it was limited to a pressing of 1000 copies. This time around I took no chances. I understand that this release is also a limited pressing, so as soon as I saw this 12" listed on the Hardcore Holocaust distro page I snagged it!

Career Suicide play hardcore that we rarely hear these days. Yes there's a lot of (and too much) pop-punk coming out, tons of D-beat (an awesome thing), a decent amount of emo and a rather large quantity of metallic hardcore. What I don't see much of is early to mid-eighties hardcore in the lines of Wasted Youth (Reagan's In-era), Jerry's Kids, et al.

Okay, so I laughed a little when I pulled this 12" record out of its sleeve for the first time. My first reaction was that it looked like an old seventies K-Tel record because it had so many short tracks. Secondly, this album plays at 45 rpm so I had to wonder exactly how long this LP could actually be. Well, it's roughly twenty-four minutes with twenty-one songs. Twenty-one songs at about one minute a piece. Excellent, since every single song is fast-as-fuck, snotty, pissed-off hardcore punk rock! Snag this one fast as it'll be gone quick. Don't be a slacker like I was with the SARS 7". I know Hardcore Holocaust still have copies 'cuz I just checked their website, but if they're out you may have to work a little bit harder to find it because you deserve to own and enjoy this masterpiece on Ugly Pop. Don't wait too long though, as you might end up having to bid for this one on Ebay. --Andy Gronberg.

Psychotic Reaction Fanzine

Let’s face it ! FUCKIN ADMIT IT YOU FUCK ! 80’s hardcore is only rock n’roll but like, 300 times faster and harder ! That’s probably why I luv old hardcore so much ! Maybe it’s because I’m a rebellious fuck that like to throw stuffs around. One of my favorite hardcore records is probably Group Sex by THE CIRCLE JERKS ( I saw them last summer and...the fuckin singer got dread but he’s beginning to get bald in the middle of the head....it’s spooky. And there was a lot of biker dudes and of metalheads in the audience too...That’s spooky too) and Career Suicide is like the CIRCLE JERKS, group sex-era, but, faster, more violent and with a garage trash attitude ! It’s absolutely perfect ! A good LP played at 45 RPM. And they’re canadian too ! FUCK YEAH ! Another reason to be proud of FUCKIN CANADA ! --Tony Suicide

Scratch Records Distro

Debut LP from this superb Toronto punk outfit, with a style of snot-drenched punk with '77 hooks played at '82 hardcore speed-- think Angry Samoans, The Freeze, Germs and FU's. On tour now and always, this is impossible to keep in stock.
